Meeting to discuss the future of St Peter's Church

Members of the Parish Church committee are inviting interested parties from the parish, irrespective of religious inclination, to a meeting at the parish hall on Thursday 10th April, at 8pm. This meeting will be to discuss the future of the St Peter's Church as sadly our long standing church warden Reg Howe is standing down from his position due to ill health, the number of worshippers is low and the number on the Church committee is equally small in number.

The church is part of Knowstone's heritage and the committee feel that everyone has a right to their opinion over what to do with it. Many parishioners have supported it either financially or by providing services like cleaning it, supplying flowers, tidying the churchyard etc and it contains a lot of things that are part of the parish's history. Ideally the committee would love it to continue with regular services but few people come to them. Other options are to close it except for major services for Easter, Christmas, Funerals, Weddings, Baptisms etc, but it would still need to be financially viable. The last resort is to close it altogether, but the danger then is that the structure would have to securely fenced off to protect people from crumbling masonry. The committee hope many of you can attend and hopefully something can be worked out.
