Rural crime and thefts
Over the last couple of days we have noticed a number of instances where thefts have occurred on farms/rural locations. The most recent in Chulmleigh overnight on the 29th September has seen the victim returning to his field to discover items have been removed from buildings and left out in anticipation of the individuals returning to collect.
A trailer has also been stolen from a property in Umberleigh on the same evening, whilst these may not be linked it is useful to remind everyone that with our evenings becoming darker and colder and the change in weather that individuals may use these reasons to mask their tracks and commit offences.
Please therefore if you see anything suspicious or alarming make contact with ourselves on either 101 or 999 (if a crime is in progress) and we will see how we can help.
The below two links will take you to our rural crime prevention page and also to some general crime prevention advice.

As a final point, please also speak with neighbours and friends and recommend they sign up to DC ALERT. Hopefully you will agree this is a useful way for us to communicate with our communities and get messages out faster than previous methods!
Kindest regards
Sgt Brown.
