Knowstone moors included as part of fundraiser for the Devon Wildlife Trust
Knowstone Inner and Outer moors are owned by the Devon Wildlife Trust. These are the moors by the road which goes from the A361 to Roachill and also the moors on the other side of the link road (NB: Haresdown Moor is owned by the Knowstone Parish Council). In 2019, 91 year old Devon Wildlife Trust supporter, Mary Truell decided to visit all 50 of the Devon Wildlife nature reserves and completed her quest in the autumn. Her Herculean efforts gained quite a bit of publicity with a TV appearance on ITV and the BBC, along with a feature in the Western Morning News.
On Monday 16th September 2019 Mary visited Knowstone Inner and Outer moors as one of the 50 sites she needed to visit. During her visits Mary managed to clock-up more than 100 miles of walking as she visited nature reserves in every corner of Devon. Her efforts have raised an amazing £5,000 for the Devon Wildlife Trust.
