Local Elections - Make A Difference to your local community
Local Elections 2 May 2019
This year the Parish Council elections coincide with the District Council elections on 2 May 2019. So now is the time to consider taking an active part in local government and representing the views of all the residents in the parish. Would you like to make a difference to your local community?
Knowstone is looking for potential new councillors. The role is not onerous: the Parish Council currently meets monthly; councillors spend some time between meetings on parish council matters or particular projects depending on their involvement. Training for new councillors will be provided, covering their role and responsibilities, law and procedures, planning, council finance, budget and precept and employment issues.
Make a difference and stand as a Parish Councillor
- Get involved with your community
- Have a say about the local issues people care about
- Decide how local money is spent to improve your community.
If you wish to stand as a Parish Councillor you will need to complete a Nomination Paper which must be hand delivered to the Returning Officer, Electoral Services, North Devon Council, Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, EX31 1DG on any working day after the date of the Notice of Election (18 March) between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. but no later than 4.00 p.m. on Wednesday 3 April. Nomination packs can be downloaded by clicking here.
