Sad news of another fatality on the A361

A 21-year-old man from Bideford has died following a serious collision on the A361 at South Molton on Monday 18 June.
Police were notified at around 11.40am to reports of a collision between three cars near Ash Mill on the North Devon link road. Fire and the Air Ambulance services were also called to the scene.
A man was extracted from one of the vehicles but was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
The carriageway at the scene consisted of two lanes in the Tiverton-bound direction and one lane towards South Molton. The opposing lanes were separated by a system of solid double white lines. Weather at the time of this incident was good with clear visibility and it occurred during the hours of daylight.
For reasons as yet unknown, a Volkswagen Polo, driven by the 21-year-old man, heading towards Tiverton, crossed the carriageway into the path of a Fiat Scudo van heading in the opposite direction and both vehicles collided.
An Audi following the Fiat took evasive action and was also damaged in the process. The occupant was uninjured.
A female passenger from the other vehicle, a Fiat Scudo, was airlifted to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with hip injuries and is in a stable condition.
