Information on hare coursing from Devon and Cornwall Police
We have been made aware of a small increase in hare coursing reports across Devon and Cornwall.
At this time, we are sharing this information to make you alert to the possibility of coursing, and we will be stepping up patrols in some target areas.
Rest assures, that this is not a ‘spike’ in incidents as we continue to have very low amounts of coursing activity reported across both counties and by you reporting these incidents it helps us tackle the problem effectively.
We are seeking information relating to a small orange Suzuki 4x4, the driver of which may be able to assist us in our enquiries.
Anyone who has any information about hare coursing is asked to contact us via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, and submit the information as intelligence, or by calling 101. Alternatively, you can submit intelligence anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please ask for the information to be passed to the Rural Affairs Team.
Please be aware of persons on your land that shouldn’t be there, and if you suspect hare coursing and it is ongoing, this is considered an emergency and you should call 999 quoting OPERATION HALFMOON, which is the force response to poaching incidents.
Please consider your own safety and do not confront those involved, contact Police to assist.
